Week 3 Chaos: Is Makai Lemon Finally Ready? + Bucky, Hurst & Heidenreich

Makai Lemon: Opportunity Through Offensive Evolution

Few rookies have sparked as much low-key intrigue as Makai Lemon. After a quiet start, the Philadelphia Eagles are quietly adapting, and opportunity is knocking. The shift is rooted in personnel:

11-Man Personnel Usage: The Eagles are running 11-man personnel at a 76% rate, up 15 points from last year and now 22.6% above league average. That’s a seismic philosophical shift, opening up more snaps for a third receiver and, naturally, more slot snaps for Lemon.
Slot Role Emphasis: Lemon is lining up in the slot 55% of the time, just as projected by many draft analysts who saw the fit for him inside. He’s the primary slot receiver now, with Dallas Goedert sidelined for an extended stretch.
Wide Alignment and Routes: When Lemon splits outside (42% of his snaps), he’s running primarily hitch routes — reflecting exactly how he was leveraged at USC. But inside, the playbook expands: slants, posts, gos, and outs.
