Lance Reisland·
Watson worked primarily with the second unit and produced several efficient stretches by staying within the structure of the offense.
He stepped up against pressure to find Gage Larvadain on a dig route, progressed to Ahmani Marshall on an arrow route and took a checkdown to Dylan Sampson. He also correctly read a smash concept and delivered the ball underneath to Blake Whiteheart. Watson generated multiple intermediate gains throughout practice. He completed a corner route to Malachi Corley for approximately 15 to 18 yards, worked through a high-low read before finding Raheim “Rocket” Sanders on an arrow route and connected with Tylan Wallace on a back-shoulder curl against man coverage. He also hit Carsen Ryan on a stick route and found Larvadain on a deep over. One of Watson’s best throws came during the final two-minute period, when he delivered a big completion to Luke Floriea on a wheel route. The play highlighted how effective Watson can be when he remains balanced, trusts the concept and gets the ball out on time. There were a few uneven moments. Watson was slightly late on a dig route to Corley and forced a poor red-zone pass toward Brenden Bates that was nearly intercepted. He also had to throw the ball away when the defense properly covered a sprint-pass concept, preventing the play from developing as designed. Overall, Watson played with improved rhythm and generally accepted the available throws rather than forcing the ball. The wheel-route completion to Floriea was the highlight of a practice in which his balance, progression work and timing helped the second offense operate efficiently.
