Sarratt entered camp with expectations that he might emerge before Lane after looking like the better and more reliable receiver during
spring practices. He consistently found ways to get open and locate soft spots in zone coverage, but he was quieter once camp began. His preseason debut against Philadelphia was encouraging and showed some traits that haven’t always been obvious in practice or athletic testing. Although he didn’t test particularly well, Sarratt appears to play faster and more athletically in game situations. He’s a nuanced route runner who uses head fakes and changes speeds to create separation, and he was surprisingly slippery after the catch, breaking multiple tackles. The fumble was a negative, but overall he looked like a player who may thrive more when there’s actual contact and competition than he does in a practice environment. His playing style was compared to Willie Snead.
