Williams’ playing time on early downs stayed remarkably consistent over the first three weeks, playing between 73-77% of snaps.

Part of this has been instability on the depth chart behind Williams. Dallas has gone from Jaydon Blue to Malik Davis to Emari Demercado to Tyler Goodson as its primary backup running back. Demercado has spent the last two weeks as inactive, leaving Goodson as the main backup. This week, Williams played 26-of-40 snaps in normal early-down sitautions compared to 14 by Goodson. Part of that was because Williams played a ridiculous 17-of-17 snaps in two-minute situations this week, but Goodson still logged five more total snaps this week than last. This had absolutely no impact on Williams’ fantasy value this week, as he scored three touchdowns. However, Goodson has averaged more yards per carry, has a better avoided tackle rate, superior first-down rate and a higher clip of converting runs for five or more yards, as well as 10-plus yards. It’s unlikely Goodson becomes the Cowboys' main running back anytime soon, but it is possible Goodson starts chipping away at Williams’ touch totals.

“As long as Dak Prescott is healthy, Jake Ferguson will have that catch production somewhere in that stratosphere. It might not be 80 catches, but sure, I would say 65-plus for sure. I think Dak just loves the tight ends and he – that is his safety net, that is what he is comfortable with, and he’s built such a strong rapport with Jake Ferguson through the years to where he trusts him in crucial situations. I’ll always point to that just because that’s the relationship between those two and it’s only going to grow as time goes on. The one criticism that he does have is the YAC ability, and what can he do after the catch. I feel like that has certainly gone down. He had a pretty bad knee sprain in week one of 2024, and since then I don’t feel like we’ve seen the yak ability that we saw prior to that. If he adds that yak ability to his game, with the amount of catches that he is getting, he could easily be a top five tight end in this league. But I think from a fantasy perspective, he'll still get the catch production.”
