Kamara was limited in practice throughout the week with a back injury.
The Saints have used a three-man rotation at running back all season, with some combination of Travis Etienne Jr. , Kamara and Kendre Miller rotating on early downs, while CJ Donaldson has handled the third-down snaps. Etienne is currently on injured reserve, leaving Kamara and Miller as the early-down backs. Last week, Kamara had a clear lead in the early-down rotation, playing 45. 7% of snaps on early downs to 32. 6% by Miller, and holding an advantage in touches thanks to his receiving work. This week, Kamara barely played over the first three quarters, with five snaps compared to 13 each by Donaldson and Miller. The game was close in the fourth quarter, leading Kamara to play seven snaps relative to six by Donaldson and one by Miller. Miller wasn’t all that effective as a rusher at 3. 0 yards per carry, but Kamara wasn’t much better. Miller is worth picking up off the waiver wire in case Kamara’s injury lingers, and the injury reports this week should give us a good indication of how snaps might be distributed next week.
