Mendoza’s best throw came on third-and-4 when he drove an opposite-hash pass to Jack Bech on an out route.
The throw required Mendoza to set his feet and deliver the ball with enough velocity to reach the far side before the defense could close. During a two-minute period, Mendoza threaded a pass between multiple defenders to Malik Benson for a gain of more than 10 yards. The drive ended when his pass toward Mike Washington Jr. was intercepted by Cody Lindenberg, although it was unclear whether the ball went off Washington’s hands or was deflected by a defender in tight coverage. Mendoza also nearly threw an interception to Tristan McCollum on a third-down dump-off intended for Albert Okwuegbunam during seven-on-seven work. He remained relatively efficient overall, but did not push the ball downfield often.
