Operating the second team offense, Rattler enjoyed a strong performance during a sweltering session at the team’s Metairie training complex.
Whether it was during full team drills or in seven-on-seven periods without a pass rush, the second-year passer showed off his talented throwing arm on a number of occasions. The variety of his skillset was on display. There was one especially crisp sequence during the second full team period when Rattler showed a quick release getting the ball out in the flat to Michael Jacobson, followed by an impressive sideline throw on a deep out to Tipton (more on that below), followed by him driving a slant to Rashid Shaheed. If Rattler can stack performances like the one he put on display Friday, he’ll be hard to beat.

Spencer Rattler followed up a 9-for-9 start to camp with another strong day, though he was guilty of throwing the first INT of camp, more on that below. He worked with the 2s and continued to run smooth offense, though there were some procedural issues later in the day. His first rep of the day was a throwback screen to Velus Jones -- similar to what we saw on Day 1 -- and he later found Michael Jacobson up the seam after a play action fake. Again, the timing just felt on when he was behind center. Rattler completed his next three passes, the first a deep out to Olave brought the ball close to the end zone. The Rattler-Olave connection has been strong to this point. He also completed balls to Jack Stoll and Jones before an incompletion targeting Moliki Matavao. This ball I'd say was incomplete because of a good decision. No one was open, rather than force a throw he gave Matavao a chance, but didn't put the ball in danger. That's what you want to see.
