TerraceMarshall Jr.

Willis, the first-year starter and fifth-year player, has been getting better every day.

He doesn’t repeat mistakes, shows good leadership and strikes the right chords on and off the field. Having said that, let’s keep things in perspective. Willis isn’t headed for the Pro Bowl. Willis had a good day Saturday against a suspect secondary that was missing its top two players — cornerback JuJu Brents and safety Dante Trader Jr. And on Friday, another good day, he had a completion to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert that likely would have been a sack by defensive tackle Zach Sieler, and had a potential interception dropped by cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. Against a veteran defense Willis might have two or three more interceptions and a few more sacks despite his running ability. Still, make no mistake, Willis has been good.

Marshall Jr. led all receivers with three catches, including a nice one near the group from Ewers. He did, however, had a bad drop on the very next snap. Marshall did have a nice reception at the sideline on a pass from Ewers when he beat Chris Johnson on a 50-50 ball. Marshall has made plays since the spring, but consistency has been an issue and that's what might keep him from making a serious push at the 53-man roster.
