Without Ty Johnson available due to a hamstring injury, the Bills smartly wanted to see if their top rusher, James Cook, could stay on the field for third downs. The Bills kept Cook on the field for three late-down situations — two on third down and one on fourth down. That came to a screeching halt in the second half. The Bills didn’t use Cook on a third down the rest of the game, instead going with practice squad call-up Frank Gore Jr. on six of the seven third-down chances in the second half. Ray Davis had the other third-down snap in the second half.
