By all accounts, the Broncos offense had an impressive day and took strides forward despite the final move the ball period.
Nix had touchdown throws to Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Trent Sherfield, and an impressive on-the-run throw to Devaughn Vele as he escaped pressure. His ability to extend plays and move around when pressure is mounting is something that drew recognition from Payton. “I think that it’s something you can’t force that,” Payton said. “We can design plays to get him out of the pocket, but I’m talking about when a part of your protection breaks down, maybe the initial route’s covered. He tends to function comfortably in that position.”

I mentioned this in the KaVontae Turpin article I penned on Dallas Cowboys.com, but the All-Pro is getting a lot (and I do mean A LOT) of work as a running back to this point. He's getting nearly as many chances on handoffs as the other RBS on the roster, and his explosiveness could make things challenging for Deuce Vaughn's mission, that is if Vaughn wasn't himself delivering the occasional "ooh ahh" moment as well. On two occasions, I heard fans telling each other they "couldn't see him" until Vaughn was already at the third level of the defense. The Turpin vs. Vaughn battle wasn't a thing coming into camp and, call me crazy, but I believe it's one now (and throw Jaydon Blue into that as well, considering his skill set).
