Purdy’s practice featured several productive completions, two passes knocked away and an interception.
He opened one period by getting the ball to Kalen Black twice, Dejon Stribling and Mike Evans twice, with Evans using his length to secure a high throw that the two nearby defenders could not reach. Purdy also connected with Sincere McCormick on a crossing route. His interception came on a pass intended for Evans when Upton Stout elevated and secured the ball. Fred Warner later broke up another shot to Evans after Purdy used a play fake to McCaffrey. Warner also delivered a hard hit that prevented Black from completing a catch and broke up attempts to Demarcus Robinson during another period. Purdy still produced multiple successful plays against the starting defense. He found Jordan Watkins uncovered approximately 20 yards down the middle on a busted coverage that likely would have resulted in a touchdown. He completed multiple passes to Jake Tonges and Luke Farrell, then answered Warner’s disruption by completing passes to Deebo Samuel and Robinson. Purdy finished his work by connecting with Robinson against Jack Jones.
