The Dolphins rotated their tight ends more this week than they did last week.
Greg Dulcich played only 51. 3% of the offensive snaps with a 50% route participation rate. Rookie Will Kacmarek played more overall, logging 61. 5% of the offensive snaps, although his route participation rate was slightly lower at 45%. Dulcich remains the better fantasy option for now, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Kacmarek receive more opportunities as the season progresses.
He was the lead tight end in all situations, playing more than 70% of the snaps in 11 personnel on both early and late downs. He also played 100% of the snaps in 12 personnel. Rookie Will Kacmarek was his backup in 11 personnel and joined him in 12 personnel. That usage led Dulcich to a 78.4% route participation rate, which is around the typical rate for a low-end TE1. The problem is that Dulcich was targeted on only 6.9% of his routes.
