Q: What was the purpose of drafting (Marlin) Klein in the second round for him to be a healthy scratch and barely gets play time?
— HTX2face JMA: I reported this back when they drafted him. The Texans actually wanted to draft Klein in the third round and attempted to trade back to get him. But the trades fell through, forcing them to pick him in the second round. They viewed him as a player with a lot of potential who could be a big contributor down the line. Unfortunately, I think that catch on that seam route had you guys thinking he might contribute in Year 1. He has a lot of talent, but as a team source told me, if a talented player is not playing, then there must be other areas of his game he must improve.

It was an unimpactful day for the tight ends, which you can live with if the receivers play as well as the Texans did. The problem is that there was a lot invested in the position. Not making a major impact is a further reflection of a poor offseason by the front office....Marlin Klein was inactive for Brevin Jordan's one-catch return.
