But given Mariota is now likely to miss time and Jayden Daniels isn't guaranteed to be back this week, Kaliakmanis could be in line to

start his first career game on Sunday against the Giants. If that's the case, the Commanders will need to evaluate Kaliakmanis honestly and look to build on this performance.... Kaliakmanis was anything but timid. He was very aggressive and more than happy to take his shots down the field. In fact it was those shots that gave the Commanders life and a chance at staying in the game.... It wasn't just those throws either. Kaliakmanis took a number of other shots down the field and was just marginally off connecting on two or three more.

Jayden Daniels missed his second straight game with a left elbow injury, leaving Marcus Mariota to start. Mariota then suffered a knee injury midway through the first quarter, forcing Washington to turn to seventh-round rookie Athan Kaliakmanis for the remainder of the game. Mariota was officially ruled out at halftime.
