Whittington was one of the most exciting parts of the first preseason game.
That wasn’t the case in this one. By no fault of his own, though. The blocking wasn’t great once he took over for Marks. The first play he was in, he got walloped in the backfield by defensive linemen. Whittington left the game with an injury. His last rush came in the final five minutes of the third quarter, when he was tackled from behind. Owen Wright handled the running back duties after that. An injury to Jawhar Jordan opened the door for Whittington to make an impact. The running back room is quite thin behind Marks and David Montgomery if Jordan, Whittington, and British Brooks are all hurt.
