Through four games, Walker has taken 75% of the Chiefs' offensive snaps (196) while Johnson has taken 26% (69).
That's the 13th-most offensive snaps on the team for Johnson, and his role should only grow from there. As long as Johnson is trusted by the coaching staff—and if he wasn't, I don't think the team would have parted ways with Emari Demercado during roster cuts—his workload should increase during the Chiefs' midseason grind as the team tries to spare Walker from a few hits while trying to keep him in top form for a postseason run similar to what he did for the Seahawks en route to his Super Bowl MVP award in February.
Murray expects more opportunities for Johnson but says Walker is hard to take out DeMarco Murray: “I think it's more of a feel for me. Obviously I want Kenneth to get in the groove, and as you guys have seen these first two games, it's hard to kind of take him out. But Emmett's done a great job and he's still learning. He's still getting a ton of reps, so he'll continue to get more opportunities. I just gotta pull the trigger and get number nine out of there and put 10 in there. But again, everything we've asked Emmett to do, from special teams to blocking, to catching the ball out of the backfield, as well as running, he's done an unbelievable job.”
