Nine of the team's 10 2026 draft picks are on the active roster, with tight end Joe Royer, who's been placed on the non-football illness
list, the lone exception. Royer did not participate in any of the full-squad training camp practices and has been away from the team since July for undisclosed personal reasons, but he'll be eligible to potentially play later this season.

Royer has moved well in his early practices and could push for playing time. The Browns have cut two tight ends since the beginning of rookie minicamp. Those decisions probably were tied to roster balance and the need to fill out positions for practice, but they’re also a clear indication that these rookies will be given chances to earn playing time. Royer will have to play on special teams to get on the field early.
