This week, it was more of the same for Johnson.
He outsnapped Fant in 11 personnel on early downs but lost snaps to Fant on third downs. He continued to rotate in 12 personnel, with Delp getting more involved. This left Johnson with a route participation rate under 70% for a second straight week. His route participation rate ranks 23rd among tight ends over the last two weeks. However, he had a 25. 8% target rate this week, caught 100% of his targets and scored twice. He is a clear sell-high candidate at this point. Delp will get more involved as the season progresses, and the team will shift targets to Jordyn Tyson once Tyson returns from injury, potentially as early as Week 5. The Saints have also run a ridiculous 232 offensive plays so far this season, and that rate will likely regress at least a little. The Saints have often been playing from behind, but if they can play with a lead, that will likely mean more 12 personnel and less Johnson.
