The injuries at wide receiver had no impact on the playing time of Pat Freiermuth.
Pittsburgh has consistently used Darnell Washington more on early downs, Freiermuth more on third downs and the two together in 12 personnel. However, it did lead to a higher target rate, as the Steelers' three slot receivers combined for no receptions. Freiermuth is worth more consideration going forward if Roman Wilson’s injury is serious.

After seeing just two targets each in Weeks 1 and 2, Washington saw a combined nine targets in Weeks 3 and 4, including five in the Steelers’ Thursday Night Football loss to the Cleveland Browns. More than half of those targets came late in the game on a critical drive as quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked his way on three straight plays....Now, Washington appears to be taking on a larger role in the passing game, which could unlock another level to Pittsburgh’s offense....After playing 64% and 52% of the Steelers’ offensive snaps in the first two weeks, that number has grown significantly in the last two weeks, Washington seeing 75% of the snaps in Week 3, and 70% in Week 4.
