Johnson backed up his strong training camp with another productive showing, averaging nearly five yards per carry against the Rams.
His lateral quickness, fluidity and ability to make moves in space stood out, and his running style was compared to Charcandrick West. Johnson also has potential as a screen-game weapon and showed enough as a runner to reinforce how talented Kansas City's running back room has become. The biggest issue remains pass protection. Johnson has the willingness to block, but he struggled badly with the actual execution, which was attributed in part to his lack of previous experience doing it. That's especially important because pass protection can determine whether a running back gets on the field, and Eric Bieniemy's presence only increases the emphasis on that part of the job. Johnson has shown he can run, but his blocking remains a clear developmental area that could affect how quickly he gets game-day opportunities.
