I have Garrett Nussmeier ahead of Cade Klubnik because I see a higher ceiling with Nuss.
Specifically, at the Senior Bowl he looked healthier, the ball came out with more life, and in my opinion he was clearly the best quarterback on site. His ball placement was consistently strong, and his arm looked better than it did during portions of the LSU season. I think there is a Ryan Fitzpatrick–type career arc possibility with Nussmeier. There may be a year or two where he becomes a “spunky starter” in the QB30–QB32 range, or fills a similar lane to an Andy Dalton-level bridge. I do not think he has quite the same raw arm talent as Dalton, but I see more of that outcome in Nussmeier than I do with Klubnik. That is why Nuss gets the slight edge. From a grading perspective, he is still in the fourth-round range. He projects primarily as a solid backup who does a lot of things well. You can see the coaching background in his game. He plays like the son of a longtime quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, which he is. Doug Nussmeier is currently the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints. The main limitation is physical. He is essentially maxed out at around 6'1", 202 pounds, so what you see is close to what you get. But within that profile, he offers steadiness, accuracy, and enough competitive toughness to stick in the league.
