Jeanty showed up on the injury report on Thursday with an ankle and foot injury, which limited his playing time.
Jeanty wasn’t able to practice at all on Friday, and Roman Hemby was a practice squad call-up just in case Jeanty couldn’t play. However, Jeanty was active, so Hemby was inactive. Jeanty’s biggest drop in snaps occurred on third downs. He played 70. 5% of those snaps over the first four weeks, and he was down to 27. 3% in this game. Dylan Laube took over as the third-down back, but was also the primary backup on early downs. This was in part because the Raiders put in backups at the end of the game, with Laube taking those snaps. While there has been hype around Washington for two months, largely tied to Jeanty’s health, if Jeanty misses time, it doesn’t seem like Washington would have a feature role in the same way Jeanty’s has had when he’s been healthy. The Raiders face the Buffalo Bills next week, and they’ve given up a lot of fantasy points to running backs, but it will be worth seeing how much Jeanty practices this week before fully trusting him.
