Love produced several high-level throws despite the offense struggling for much of practice.
His most dependable connection remained the quick out to Christian Watson, a precise six-to-seven-yard completion that Love consistently delivers with confidence. He also found Matthew Golden at the front pylon for a red-zone touchdown, pairing good timing with an accurate throw against tight coverage. Love’s most impressive pass traveled roughly 35 to 40 yards on what appeared to be a slot fade to Skyy Moore. He dropped the ball perfectly over Moore’s shoulder and away from Jaylen Simpson, but Moore failed to complete the catch. Love also gave Moore a chance at the back of the end zone by placing the ball over the defender and within reach, though Moore could not get his second foot down. There were some less productive moments. Love and Sean Ryan had a fumbled exchange on the first team play, and pressure from Brenton Cox disrupted a bootleg and forced Love to throw at Josh Wylie’s feet. He also had plenty of time on one red-zone snap but could not find anyone open and threw the ball through the end zone. That was still a sensible decision with the coverage holding up. Later, while facing the second- and third-team defense, Love completed four consecutive passes to Watson twice, Bo Melton and Drake Dabney before Melton dropped what should have been the fifth straight completion.
