The former Tennessee Titan caught four passes for 60 yards and led the team in targets.
Okonkwo had excellent route participation numbers in Week 1, but only before suffering an injury that cost him Weeks 2 and 3. He returned in Week 4 but appeared to be limited because of the injury. He was back this week and played 71% of the Commanders' snaps. That included 81. 4% of the early-down snaps out of 11 personnel, and all of the third-down snaps. He only played in three of 12 snaps in 12 personnel, which was a notable drop from Weeks 1 and 4. However, Washington ran 11 plays out of 13 personnel, and Okonkwo played 10 of those snaps. While these weren’t perfect route-participation numbers due to the 12 personnel usage, it was still more playing time than he’s used to during his average game with Tennessee last season. While part of Okonkwo's target rate was likely due to the Commanders' injuries at wide receiver, this could also be a sign of things to come for Okonkwo in his first full healthy game with the team. He is among the tight ends to consider off the waiver wire.
