Emanuel Wilson, a short-yardage specialist, is the lead back.
Holani, who had 25 career carries entering this season, is having to function as a 1B option. On Sunday, the Seahawks called 24 run plays for the two of them. They produced 68 yards and lost two fumbles. ... The fundamentals can be fixed. The lack of explosion won't change. Holani and Wilson are meant to play small roles. The Seahawks know it. That's why they were interested in signing Joe Mixon to the practice squad before he failed a physical. That's why they are taking a flier on rookie Robert Henry Jr.

Nobody who arrived this week is a threat to Wilson's carries. Joe Mixon won't join the team after his physical, Jadarian Price is on injured reserve for at least three more games, and Zach Charbonnet won't play against the 49ers even though this is the first week he's eligible off the PUP list. The only addition was Robert Henry Jr., an undrafted rookie off the Commanders' practice squad who hasn't made his regular season debut. Wilson already showed what the full job looks like in Week 4 against the Chargers, with 21 carries for 81 yards, three catches for 39 yards and two touchdowns. Those catches are the real change. Holani took the third down snaps when the season opened, and Wilson had zero receptions through the first three weeks. Charbonnet is expected to take team reps in practice this week, and his activation is the next change coming to this backfield.
