The 60-year-old head coach explained that Whiteheart has been diligent in his blocking and routerunning, and he was happy to see the hard
work payoff with a major moment early in the season. Monken is a bit of a maestro when it comes to tight ends. He coached Bowers during their two national championship seasons together with the Georgia Bulldogs. More recently with the Baltimore Ravens, Monken coached Mark Andrews, who is one of the best players at the position. But more notably, Monken developed Isaiah Likely Jr.
The most important offensive player for me is Harold Fannin Jr. He can line up in multiple spots, create mismatches, and become a dependable target in the middle of the field. There is not much proven depth behind him, but Blake Whiteheart can put his hand on the ground and give the Browns an inline tight end when they want to use 12 personnel. Fannin’s versatility will be one of the keys to Monken’s entire offense.
