Loyd is very much a developmental upside swing at this stage.
The production profile in college does not really give much to work with, which makes it pretty clear the Chiefs saw something in workouts and rookie minicamp that they believed was worth investing in. Earning a contract as a UDFA despite minimal receiving production says a lot about the traits they must have liked. Like several of the other young receivers in this room, he projects primarily as a slot option right now. The Byron Pringle comparison is more about the developmental pathway than play style specifically. Kansas City has shown before that it is willing to take athletic or toolsy receivers and slowly develop them over multiple years. That timeline is important because there is probably no realistic path to meaningful snaps immediately. The focus for Loyd will likely be making the roster, contributing in practices and special teams environments, and proving he can grow into a more complete receiver over time. For dynasty purposes, this is the type of extremely deep stash you hold only if you are betting on long term development within a strong offensive environment. The appeal is entirely tied to projection rather than current production.
