How to use 32BeatWriters Data Lab

1. Sign in to your 32BeatWriters account.
2. Go to Tools → Data Lab, or open /data directly.
3. Scroll to the embedded NFL Data Lab panel.

If you still see subscribe copy on the outer page, that is site chrome — the lab itself loads in the panel below once your membership is active.

Across the top of the lab, pick the dataset you want:

• QB, WR, TE, RB — player offense views
• DEF Team — team defense
• DEF Players — individual defenders (can take a moment to refresh on first load)

Each position has its own default qualification (for example, minimum dropbacks for QBs or minimum targets for receivers) so tiny samples do not crowd the board.

Before you dig into metrics, lock the window you care about:

1. Season — choose the year you want (for example, 2025 or 2026).
2. View — Season for full-year totals, Weekly for a single week, or Custom range for a From/To week span.
3. Team — All teams, or one of the 32 clubs.
4. Min qualification — raise or lower the bar (dropbacks, targets, etc.). The control shows when you are still on the default.
5. Optional shortcuts — Last 3, Last 5, or Last 8 for recent form.

Weekly adds a Week picker. Custom range adds From and To. If a future season is not published yet, the lab will say so and return zero rows — that is a data-availability message, not a login error.

Use Reset when you want to clear the query back to defaults.

Open More filters (or Filters on a compact layout) to open Refine leaderboard. There you can add:

• Home / Away
• Opponent
• Situation (early downs, third down, red zone, neutral script, leading, trailing)
• Min snaps and Min games

Hit Show N results to apply, or Reset inside the drawer to clear those extras.

The table is the main surface. Work it in this order:

1. Metric group tabs — switch among Overview, Opportunity, Efficiency, Underlying, Situational, Tracking, and Custom (defense views expose a shorter set). Headers change with the tab so you are not staring at every column at once.
2. Display mode — toggle Raw, NFL Rank, or Percentile depending on whether you want the number, the league rank, or the distribution view.
3. Search — type a player (or defender) name to narrow the current result set.
4. Sort — pick the metric that should order the board.
5. Columns — open Choose columns / Column manager to show, hide, reorder, pin, or restore the preset. Offense columns cover volume, EPA, success, CPOE, aDOT, time to throw, situational EPA, and more.
6. Pagination — large boards (especially DEF Players) page in chunks; use Previous / Next and watch the “X–Y of Z” count.
7. Check the status line under the table for freshness cues such as games final and “Through Week N.”

Share filtered view and CSV live in the toolbar when you want to hand someone the same slice or export. (CSV follows published-data availability the same way the board does.)

• DEF Team — 32 rows with Overview, Efficiency, Underlying, Situational, and Custom groups. Sort options lean into allowed EPA and success rates.
• DEF Players — large roster board (hundreds of rows). Give it a beat if you see “Refreshing…,” then use search, sort, and pagination the same way you would on offense.

On offensive views, Create Charts carries your current query into the Statyx chart builder.

1. Pick a Template (ranked bars, scatter, four-quadrant scatter, weekly trend, percentile profile, multi-metric heatmap, player comparison, or rank movement).
2. Confirm Position, Season, View, and Qualification.
3. Choose the primary metric from the same catalog as the column manager.
4. Set presentation — canvas size (X/Twitter, square, portrait, article), label size, and toggles for names, teams, values, ranks, and percentiles.
5. Optionally select up to 20 players and highlight up to 3.
6. Review the live preview, then Copy link, export JPEG / PNG, or refresh the preview.

Nothing posts to social until you export or copy on purpose.

The lab header includes Saved Views and Save view. Use them when you have a filter + column setup worth returning to week after week (for example, “WR target share — last 5 — percentile”).

1. Open Data Lab after the Sunday slate.
2. Set Season + Weekly (or Last 5) for the position you care about.
3. Flip to Efficiency or Situational depending on the question.
4. Switch display to Percentile or NFL Rank to spot outliers fast.
5. Search your stash players, then Create Charts if you want a graphic for notes or social.
6. Save the view if you will run it again next Tuesday before waivers.
