MarShawn Lloyd: Green Bay Might Finally Have a Real Plan for Him
There has been a lot of uncertainty behind Josh Jacobs in Green Bay, but this week gave us one of the better signs yet that MarShawn Lloyd could actually have a role if he stays healthy. Packers running backs coach Ben Sirmans specifically mentioned Lloyd returning as something that “makes our job easier,” pointing to the explosiveness he brings to the offense. The expectation right now seems to be that Lloyd could step into the run heavy role behind Jacobs, while Christopher Brooks handles more of the obvious passing situations and two back looks. That is important because it feels like Green Bay sees Lloyd as more than just depth. They seem to view him as someone who can actually contribute meaningful touches if things go well.
